If you abstain from hypocrisy, you are indeed appreciating Allah and, as well save yourself from the burning fire. Allah says; Quran 4:142
"Verily, the hypocrites seek to deceive Allah, but it is He Who deceives them . And when they stand up for As-salat (the prayer), they stand with laziness and to be seen of men, and they do not remember Allah but little."
Hypocrisy, has Allah mentioned in another relation;
"And of mankind, there are some (hypocrites) who say: "we believe in Allah and the last day" while in fact they believe not." Quran 2:8
You will have to check yourself if truly you are not part of them. Your disposition to life and the generality of dos and don'ts of your Creator. Do you abide by His rule or not?
Hypocrisy is of two types, namely;
(A) Hypocrisy in Belief,
(B) Hypocrisy in deeds and actions.
(A) Hypocrisy in Belief
There are six aspects of hypocrisy in Belief;
- To belie the Messenger (Muhammad peace be upon him)
- To belie some of all that was brought by the Messenger (Muhammad peace be upon him) e.g the Quran, the Sunnah, Laws and Principles of Islam).
- To hate the Messenger (Muhammad peace be upon him).
- To hate some of that which was brought by the Messenger (Muhammad peace be upon him) e.g Islamic monotheism, etc.
- To feel happy at the disgrace of or the setback for the Religion of Allah's the Messenger (Muhammad peace be upon him).
- To dislike that the religion of Allah's Messenger (Islamic monotheism) becomes victorious, (not being pleased at the victory of Islam).
(B) Hypocrisy in deeds and actions.
There are five aspects of hypocrisy in deeds and actions, and their proof is from the statement of Allah's Messenger. The signs of hypocrisy are these;
- Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie,
- Whenever he promises, he always breaks it (his promise),
- If you trust him, he proves to be dishonest (if you keep something as trust with him, he will not return it),
- Whenever he quarrels, he behaves in a very imprudent, evil, insulting manner,
- Whenever he makes a covenant, he proves himself treacherous.
May the peace and blessings of Allah be with you.
