The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Sa’ad III has declared tomorrow, Monday, as Ramadan 1, 1440 A.H, marking the beginning of the month-long compulsory fast.
The Amir-ul-Mu'mineen of the Nigerian Muslims and Sultan of Sokoto made the announcement via @moonsightingng, the official Twitter handle of the National Moon Sitting Committee of the NSCIA at exactly 8: 29pmYa Allah! strengthen our Eeman now and always. Invocation for sighting the new moon:
ﺍﻟﻠﻪُ ﺃَﻛْـﺒَﺮ، ﺍﻟﻠّﻬُﻢَّ ﺃَﻫِﻠَّـﻪُ ﻋَﻠَﻴْـﻨﺎ ﺑِﺎﻷﻣْـﻦِﻭَﺍﻹﻳﻤـﺎﻥ، ﻭﺍﻟﺴَّﻼﻣَـﺔِ ﻭﺍﻹﺳْﻼﻡِ،ﻭَﺍﻟﺘَّـﻮْﻓﻴـﻖِ ﻟِﻤﺎ ﺗُﺤِـﺐُّ ﻭَﺗَـﺮْﺽَـﻰ، ﺭَﺑُّﻨـﺎﻭَﺭَﺑُّﻚَ ﺍﻟﻠﻪُ
Transliteration:Allaahu Akbar, Allaahumma ahillahu 'alayna bil'amni wal'eemaani, wassalaamati wal-Islaami, wattawfeeqi limaa tuhibbu Rabbanaa wa tardhaa, Rabbunaa Wa Rabbukallaahu.ﺍﻟﻠﻪُ ﺃَﻛْـﺒَﺮ، ﺍﻟﻠّﻬُﻢَّ ﺃَﻫِﻠَّـﻪُ ﻋَﻠَﻴْـﻨﺎ ﺑِﺎﻷﻣْـﻦِﻭَﺍﻹﻳﻤـﺎﻥ، ﻭﺍﻟﺴَّﻼﻣَـﺔِ ﻭﺍﻹﺳْﻼﻡِ،ﻭَﺍﻟﺘَّـﻮْﻓﻴـﻖِ ﻟِﻤﺎ ﺗُﺤِـﺐُّ ﻭَﺗَـﺮْﺽَـﻰ، ﺭَﺑُّﻨـﺎﻭَﺭَﺑُّﻚَ ﺍﻟﻠﻪُ
Meaning:
Allah is the Most Great . O Allah , bring us the new moon with security and Faith, with peace and in Islam, and in harmony with what our Lord loves and what pleases Him. Our Lord and your Lord is Allah.
